Emergency Operations Center

The Monongalia County Emergency Operations Center is
the central location for directing emergency operations during major
emergencies and disasters. Constructed in 1997, the Monongalia
County EOC is located at 74 Vandervort Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia
and is equipped with the necessary communications equipment, emergency
information and operational supplies to allow Monongalia County's senior
officials to collectively coordinate emergency response activities, in
order to ensure that all needs are addressed with the available
resources. Management and staffing of the EOC is overseen by the
Office of Emergency Management.

The Monongalia County EOC facility is approximately
5,200 square feet and consists of the operations room, communications
room, and emergency management offices. The EOC building also houses
other support areas, including a supply/copier room, kitchenette, and
rest rooms. The EOC has a secured entrance monitored by closed-circuit
cameras. Back-up power is provided by a generator. The EOC and
communications room has heating and cooling systems independent from the
rest of the facility, a three-hour fire wall and bullet proof windows.
Communications systems include: multiple telephone and dedicated fax
lines; low band, VHF, UHF, 400 MHz and amateur band radios; DTN [Meterological]
satellite feeds of the National Weather Wire Service and weather radar;
and a dedicated telephone circuit on the National Warning System
(NAWAS).
