Staff members of the Monongalia County Office of Emergency Management and Monongalia Emergency Centralized Communications Agency [MECCA 9-1-1] attend training throughout the year presented by the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Emergency response organizations, disaster assistance/community assistance and government agencies are eligible to attend many of these classes free of charge.

WV Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management
The West Virginia Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management provides training in emergency management, hazardous materials response and other related activities to Emergency Management staff. These courses and the related drills and exercises are continually evaluated and improved to ensure that they reflect the training needs of our staff and responders.
FEMA -- EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE
FEMA's National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, is home of the Emergency Management Institute and the National Fire Academy. There, emergency managers, firefighters, and elected officials can take classes in many areas of emergency management, including emergency planning, exercise design and evaluation disaster management, hazardous materials response and fire service management.
Independent Study Courses on disaster preparedness, disaster assistance, and hazardous materials are available for the general public from the Emergency Management Institute, at no cost.
FEMA -- EMI -- EENET Broadcast Schedule
Special seminars, workshops, and broadcasts are offered at no cost via satellite as part of FEMA's Emergency Education Network, called EENET.
